Demetra lives in Winnipeg with her husband of 20+ years, two kids (one on the spectrum), one horse, and two dogs. She loves to garden, travel, read, write, spend time with her friends and family at the lake, and volunteer her time in the community. She is silly and often looses her keys and glasses and is very excited to volunteer her time sharing her knowledge and talents with Autism Manitoba!

Vice President

Dr. Leanne vanAmstel

Dr. Leanne vanAmstel grew up on the scenic East Coast near Halifax. She and her husband are proud parents to two sons and a daughter, and have been settled in Winnipeg for the past 15 years. A graduate of  Dalhousie University, Leanne holds a medical degree and practices as a radiologist. She finds fulfilment in gardening, exploring the culinary world, traveling, and spending time with those who make her laugh. Despite her professional and personal pursuits, Leanne is a self-professed introvert who is recharged by quiet nights in, and gathering with those close to her. Inspired by her own journey raising a child on the spectrum, she looks forward to helping other families navigating similar paths.
